My Grand Baby Girl

Please meet one of the loves of my life, my youngest grand daughter.  I have learned that a grand child fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty..............................and then they fill your heart beyond belief and bring so much joy that at times, it just leaves you speechless.  And oh, all the scrapbooking I will do..................................

It sure was challenging trying to photograph all this bling!  I think this was the best photo as you can at least see the Tim Holtz Mirror Paper pretty well with one of these snowflakes.  I love this new mirror paper!  It is incredible and gorgeous.  I also like that it is adhesive backed too.  I also managed to find the perfect sentiment in my stash for this card.  It says, "Wishing you a sparkling holiday".  I thought it was perfect with all the bling going on.

For this project, I used American Crafts glitter cardstock for the background and also for two of the snowflakes.  The other two snowflakes are the Tim Holtz Mirrored Paper.  The snowflakes were all cut with my new eBosser.  I love this new machine!  It makes die cutting and embossing so easy peasy.  And speaking of embossing, the white paper was embossed with one of my Cuttlebug embossing folders to add more snowflakes to the card.  The sentiment was cut out using one of my Spellbinder dies using the eBosser as well.  And then I used my WOW! Embossing Powder to give the sentiment some bling too.  And then I inked the edges of it and added some Kaisercraft pearls.  Then I found some rhinestone strips in my stash and added those as an after thought.  I figure a girl can never have too much bling!  I hope you enjoyed my project and please don't forget to leave a comment to get into the drawing.

My Mind's Eye Meets Tim Holtz

It is so funny that the older I get, the more set in my ways I become. However as far as crafting and creating go, I so want to grow and learn new stuff. So.........I decided to go out of my comfort zone and do and altered art project. For my project today, I created and altered a Tim Holtz configuration box. I have to admit I was a bit intimidated however I jumped in with both feet and started creating! I actually had a lot of fun doing this and I think it turned out pretty darn good for the first time doing this. So here is what the box looks like when you get it:

It has a nice lid with a clear sheet that you can use or not use depending if you want your items to stick out of the box a bit. Here is a photo of the box using My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper pad Follow Your Heart Be Happy to cover the interior of all the little boxes:

And then the side view using the newest My Mind's Eye paper release, Indie Chic Citron which I inked up a bit to distress it a tad more:

Here is my configuration box with the Tim Holtz tissue tape added which keeps all those little boxes in place:

And finally adding some odds and ends into my box with a hot glue gun. I used a few of Tim's corked vials to add some Suze Weinburg's beadazzles and beads. I also used Flower Soft to fill my vase with flowers and some Prima flowers and embellishments. There is also one of Tim Holtz's word keys in there, an Anna Griffin embellishment, a stick pin that I made and much more:

I hope you enjoyed my project! I also hope that I have inspired those that are afraid to paper craft out of their comfort zone will give it a whirl. I really has a lot of fun making this item and now I think I would love to do more projects like this as this would make a really great gift!

Mother's Day Card

Here is a card I made for my mother for Mother's Day and I also have it posted on the Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog this month.  I love being a part of this Design Team, as the ladies over there are so talented!
This is a 5x7 card using DCWV's Linen Closet paper pad.  I chose this because my mom's favorite color is blue and there are a lot of blues and neutral colors that go so well together in this stack.  I finally got to use one of the newest products added to my store (Cutters Creek)!  I love these MFT doily dies.  The butterfly and flower are by Petaloo and the center of the flower is Suze Weinburg's Beadazzles.  The stick pin is my own creation and I love making these and adding them to my cards.

Mother's Day is in a week, so I hope all of you reading this do something very special for all of your moms out there.  I am glad I am a mom and a grand mom.  It is one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had.

Spring Has Sprung!

Around the country, we have all had a mild winter and with that comes an early Spring.  My husband laughs at me when this happens as I start planting flowers early because I am so ready to discard the dismal colors of winter for the beautiful colors of Spring.  I love peonies and one year, my husband decided to buy me two tree peonies.  I had never heard of them before.  The winter of 2010 we got approx 80" of snow and when we finally got the tree peonies unburied, they were so beat down and broken, it broke my heart.  However these seem to be little troopers because they still bloomed and even bloomed from the broken stems that I refused to let my husband cut off.  This is just one of the beautiful flowers from one of my tree peonies.  They are even more stunning in person and I will be sad once they stop blooming.  Although, there is always next year.............

I Am Now A Copic Certified Designer!!

What a long day driving to Pennsylvania, taking an all day class and driving home!  However I am content.  I am now a Copic Certified Designer!!   I have been wanting to get certified for a couple years now and I can now check this off my list.  Marianne Walker was so incredible.  She is an awesome educator and adds so much of herself to her class.  She injects a bit of humor into the day that really adds a personal element and also makes the class very dimensional.  I learned so much more than I expected.  I knew I would learn "stuff", however I did not realize how much knowledge I would gain.  I don't mean this in a bad way, as with every class and workshop, I always expect to take something away from it to add to my bag of tricks and sometimes I am just blown away with what I can get out of one of these events.  So I am just tired and want to sit down and color my heart out, but I need a bit of rest after such a long day!

Today I Turned 50

I remember being a child and could not wait to grow up.  I remember being a young adult and thinking I knew everything and that I would live forever.  I remember being in my 30's and thinking being and adult was hard and not all I thought it would be.  I remember turning 40 and thinking that my children were almost grown and I was looking forward to being an empty nester.  I also remember the day I became and empty nester and cried like a baby.  My forties were the most challenging decade for me to date.  All my little birdies flew away and flew far.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer (and survived!).  I regained my MIA father and met my half siblings, spouses, & children.  I started my own business.  But most of all in my forties, I became more comfortable in my own skin.  I learned to love who I am.  And I learned that no matter what, as much as you want certain people to be a certain way, the only power you truly have is in yourself.  So although I was not thrilled to get my AARP membership in the mail and am not thrilled with turning a half a century, I am happy with who I am and who I turned into.  I wish I knew at 20 what I now know at 50.  Talk about life!  I am blessed with two children (Kim & Jonathan) and I would not trade them for anything in the world.  And Jonathan has blessed me with two grand children (Georgia & Jadelyn) who keep me feeling so young at heart.  Happy 50th Birthday to Me!!!!

Anna Griffin & David Tse at CHA Winter 2011

Here is my final completed layout for CHA Winter 2011.  On the left is me and Anna Griffin.  I just love that woman and wanted to use some of her paper and embellishments for this layout, but I just could not come up with a color combo that I liked.  It truly has nothing to do with the fact that I hoard her paper at all, honest.  (I wonder if any of my friends reading this believes a word I just said!)  The photo on the right is of me and David Tse, the CEO of Craftwell.  He is the nicest man and I just adore him.  Paul and David came to my rescue the first day of CHA when my rolling suitcase malfunctioned with in the first 30 minutes of hitting the show floor.  They gave me an eCraft rolling tote to collect my goodies in and although I offered to pay for it, they would not hear of it!  Craftwell's customer service is just as good at the top as it is throughout the entire company.  Everything on the page was matted with Perfect Layers.  If you don't own this ruler system, this is a must have tool.  Perfect Layers are the only tool I use every single time I craft and I have gotten more than my moneys worth out of these wonderful rulers.

CHA Winter 2011 Fiskateer Photo

Here is another CHA Winter layout I completed!  At the top left, that is me with an Elvis impersonator that was at the party we attended and on the right that is me at the Fiskers booth dressing up in Fiskateer garb and posing.  At the bottom, that is me and Mandie at the party.  We really had a great time!  It is funny, I usually don't scrapbook in the color orange but I have been doing that a lot lately because my photos have a lot of orange in them.  I also discovered that apparently I have a lot of orange paper.  Who knew?!?  All three photos are triple matted with Perfect Layers to pull in the patterned paper strip I used on the layout.

Manly Man CHA Winter 2011 Layout

Here is my opposite of my "girly girl" CHA layout for an awesome guy, Tim Holtz.  Tim is one of the most energetic and crafty personas in paper arts and crafting.  He is so inspiring and as sweet as apple pie.  If you have ever had the experience of taking one of his workshops or classes, you so know what I mean.  He always has time to answer questions and take requests.  In the bottom picture, Mandie asked him to take a picture with Pinky and he sure did!  There are so many gals in our world of paper crafts, however you sure have to love a man who embraces what we love and shows us so much joy and teaches us a thing or two! us some rocking tools!!  Thank you Tim Holtz!  In my eyes, you sooooooo rock!!

Title Page For One Of My Scrapbooks

Do you do a title page for all of your scrapbooks?  I do.  I love them because it means that I have probably finished up one book and am starting a new book.  And I do love doing a title page for my personal scrapbooks as they are things that I love with not worrying about photos.  For this one I used Anna Griffin's metallic paper as my background and also her velvet chipboard for my name.  I also used some green velvet ribbon along the bottom of my punched border which is punched out from another one of my favorite paper lines, POW! by American Crafts.  Then I added some petaloo flowers and some K & Company grand adhesions and I am done!

All About Tigger.................

Doing this layout was a little bitter sweet for me.  I had to put Tigger to sleep in July of 2011 and scrapping these photos of him in 2010 was a little hard for me and there was also some crying involved.  Six months after his death, I still miss him so.  He was a mighty giant at over 26 lbs and my best bud.  I wanted to write a lot, so I had to type up my journaling on the computer, instead of hand writing it.  That also allowed me to get up and walk away for a bit and come back to it when I was able to again.  For anyone who is scrapping a layout that is difficult emotionally, I highly recommend doing it on the computer.  I think it made it a bit easier for me to get it done.  I then printed it on some pretty and sparkly vellum (hard to see that in the photo) and then matted everything with Perfect Layers.  I think it turned out very nice and this will look beautiful in my scrapbook album.

When Good Animals Go Bad........................

I have a heck of a time taking photos of double layouts!  If anyone has any great tips, please post a comment here and let me know!!  These are all photos of my furry and feathered friends acting naughty.  The first one of Gus the golden & Bailey the cockatiel is really cute.  I was holding Bailey and he decided he wanted to fly away.  Well, his wings are clipped and the only place he went is down and had a furry pillow to land on.  I have another photo some where (I can't find it) of Bailey walking up on the top of Gus's head and standing them.  Thank goodness golden retrievers are so patient, loving, & forgiving.  The one next to that one is of me getting Bailey & Sunset out of their cages and they had other ideas and got to the floor and wanted to play with Tigger's cat toy.  The one below those two is of Tigger on the end of my recliner and giving me the evil eye because I am taking up to much room on MY recliner.  On the second page (top photo), that is Gus in our bed.  He knows he is not allowed on our bed!  So I snapped that picture and then sent it to my husband at work to show him what a bad dog Gus is!  The one below is of Tigger and Gus in our bed.  Tigger is allowed on our bed and I guess this day Gus thought............if the cat can get on the comfy bed, so could he.  And Tigger never much cared for any of the other animals, so I was shocked they were sleeping peacefully together.  I have not caught Gus on our bed in a long time, but sometimes he likes breaking the rules.

Don't you just love that animal print paper?!?  It is Anna Griffin metallic paper and I love all her metallics.  And of course all my mats are done with Perfect Layers.  I have been keeping it pretty simple while doing my pages, as I am so behind.  However I am longing to get a bit more fancy.  Hopefully, I can keep at it and officially be done with 2010 pictures and work into 2011.

My only New Year's resolution this year is to set aside some crafting time every week.  So far, so good.  Did you make any crafting resolutions?  I would sure love to hear them!  Please leave a comment and also tell me if you are still on track with your crafty resolution.

Girly Girl CHA Winter 2011 Layout

I had this girly girl paper and embellishments and I decided that what is better way to use them on a bunch of girly girl crafters scrapbook page.  I have many more CHA Winter 2011 photos to scrapbook, but when I was digging around in my room and I found this stuff, I stopped what I was doing and scrapped this page.  I am now learning that because I own so much paper and things, that if I come across something while looking for something else that will go with some photos on deck,  I should grab them ASAP and create!  By the time I eventually get to that project, I have forgotten where that paper and embellishments have gotten to!  It sure feels good to be scrapbooking again!

In the top photo that is me pictured with another store owner friend, Cindy.  I triple matted that photo with my Perfect Layers Ruler System and used three different sized mats to bring interest to the photo.  I had to laugh at myself last night.  I was struggling a bit to get my mats cut and then all of a sudden a light bulb went off.  My craft knife was dull!  Once I changed my blade, I was off and running and getting my mats done in no time.  The bottom photo is of me and Jinger from Provo Craft.  I was at a Cricut Circle Event when this photo was taken.  This photo was only single matted, however it turned out just as good and then my little journaling box was matted using my Perfect Layers.  I keep telling everyone, I use my rulers for everything!  I even own a back up brand new set because I would cry if I had to mat the old fashioned way.  Matting use to be one of the most frustrating things about scrapbooking for me because I am so anal.  You may not notice my mat is off a smidge (in the olden!), but I did.  I just can't say enough about this tool and your bang for the buck.

I need to get back to crafting because I am on a roll.  I hope you enjoyed my page!

Halloween 2010: My Son's Family

I am still scrapping photos from 2010, however I am getting closer to 2011!  I love My Mind's Eye paper and embellishments and could not wait to scrap these Halloween photos using this set I own that also included embellishments, brads, and stamps.  And of course I love my Perfect Layers and use them every time I scrap.  And did you know I am a Brand Ambassador for Perfect Layers?  If you click my link you will get 5% off your order or you can use the coupon code: kbush5%.

I loved using all the elements in my kit.  And I just love those brads!  For the October 31st element on the top right side of the page I used my glue pen around the edges and sprinkled some brown glitter along the edges.  A girl needs her bling!  Well.............I need to get scrapping again and I hope you enjoy my layout!

A Few Cards................

It's been a while since I have posted to my blog.  I have spent some time creating and I think it is time to get some of this stuff up and show it off!  These are three cards I made yesterday.  After making so many cards for Christmas, I was a bit on card making overload especially since I much prefer to scrapbook.  I had not scrapbooked since September and January brought me to the conclusion that it is time to schedule scrapbooking into my regular routine.  I have been doing a great job getting pages done and I didn't realize how much I missed my craft until I started getting it done.  Hopefully I can get some photos taken of my pages and share with everyone very soon, like!  So now I am thinking about birthdays and Spring for making cards and I did enjoy making these non holiday cards.
