Stamping & Card Making

I still maintain that I am a scrapper and not a card maker, however this new adventure into stamping and coloring the images is a lot of fun! Then I had to find something to do with them, and my mind turned to cards. I stamped all kinds of things and I had no rhyme or reason to stamping. I just selected some that I thought were pretty and started coloring. I made note cards out of these and still have a bunch more images to do something with. I think they turned out pretty good, as I usually pick a stamp and stamp it on a scrapbook page and am usually not thrilled with the end result, unless it is just a word, saying or flourish. I love these! Who knew?

Creative Block?!?!?

Do you ever sit down to scrapbook or make a card and feel like you have lost your creative "mojo"? It happens to all of us and I am no exception. The above example I got from a site called Page Maps. Get inspiration for other things like cards and tags too. The internet is a wonderful resource of information. Go check out Page Maps and get your creative "mojo" back in no time!

What's a Girl to do with Stamps!

So, I collect stamps as they look so pretty and I see the most beautiful cards done with them. But alas, I am no stamper! I scrapbook and stamp words and flourishes, but that is about it. So I took my stamps out and decided it was time to give it a whirl. This is part of my "use my supplies in 2009" campaign. These are the first five I have done and I don't think they are too bad. I used color pencils as I have not bought anything expensive until I can find out where my talent lies with this new venture. In the I "heart" U image it is hard to see, however the little dots around the inside are all colored red along with the dots in the heart. Well.............I'm off to color some more! I am actually having a blast! Now to figure out what to do with them when I'm done!

Simple Scrapbooks...........sad news........

Here is the announcement about this wonderful publication:

January 15, 2009

The Official Announcement

Loyal readers and contributors,

I am saddened to share that, due to difficult conditions in both the economy and the publishing market, the May/June 2009 issue of Simple Scrapbooks magazine (on sale April 14) will be its last.

Since its founding in 2002, Simple Scrapbooks has been simplifying the process of scrapbooking for tens of thousands of scrapbookers worldwide, providing solutions that keep them engaged in and passionate about sharing their stories and memories. The end of Simple Scrapbooks as a magazine is not the end of this message. It will continue as part of Creating Keepsakes magazine, where, starting with the July 2009 issue, we will integrate Simple concepts and personalities into our editorial mix, and continue providing ideas and inspiration to help beginning and experienced scrapbookers alike fit scrapbooking into their busy lives.

Implementing these editorial changes does not mean Creating Keepsakes readers will lose the content they know and love. It only means that the magazine will be further enriched by the Simple Scrapbooks approach—the best of both worlds in one publication! With 75% of readers subscribing to both publications, CK Media feels this change will also benefit subscribers who are feeling the current economic hardships.

All current Simple Scrapbooks subscriptions will be honored through the May/June 2009 issue, at which point any remaining issues will be fulfilled by Creating Keepsakes magazine, beginning with the July 2009 issue. If you are already a subscriber to Creating Keepsakes, your subscription will be extended accordingly. Any questions regarding submissions can be directed to or by calling 866/334-8149.

Thank you for your loyalty and support. We have enjoyed our association with you, our loyal readers, and look forward to continuing it as part of the Creating Keepsakes family.
Sincerely, Lin SorensonVP/Editorial DirectorCK Media

Simple Scrapbooks will me missed by so many of us!

New Flower Soft Colors coming out at CHA!

Aren't these new colors beautiful! And I love that you can get a "little" bit of everything in these new packaged boxes. To celebrate the launch of the new colors Flower Soft has produced three themed selection boxes that enable customers to buy seven colors in slightly smaller pots at one great retail price of $24.99. The box sets are Floral Bouquet (all pre-mixed Floral colors), Rainbow (all fabulous bright solid colors) and Pastel (all the baby colors). The new vases are gorgeous too! The glass vases look very pretty and I love the new set of mixed vases. They will also have some new stamps coming out as well. The down side is that once these are released, Flower Soft is now raising their price to $5.99 a pot. If you have every used Flower Soft, you know these pots are jammed full and still an awesome value at the the price. These items will start showing up in stores early February. Cutters Creek will be carrying all these new items, so come by and check them out soon!

Sympathy Cards & Flower Soft

I made these sympathy cards for my DH. A family member died and he asked me to make him a couple of cards. I was happy to do it and proud that he had enough faith in me to do something so near and dear to his heart. I think that he thinks I am a card maker. I am just dabbling in the whole card making thing. I must be doing something right because he loves Hallmark as much as I used to!

Meeting My Son In Law................

This is a picture I scrapped of the first time I met my current Son in Law. He is smart, charming, and loves my daughter so very much. It is so hard to let your children go, however when they are with people that are so into them and love them, and seem so right, it is so hard to find any fault. I love this man with all my heart and it pleases me so very much that my daughter is such a lucky lady! I was amused by this photo, as they had these blue hearts all over this wall. Where we ended up standing, it looks like I have "ears" and he has "wings". I find it to be another funny scrapbook moment!

Christmas Cards 2009...........yes I did!

Life left me in a time crunch in 2008, so I am trying to not do things at the last minute in 2009. My first "get ahead of the game" project is Christmas cards for 2009. I figured I already had the stuff scattered every where from doing last minute cards and yes............I bought Christmas sale items too. So this is my first project for 2009. I hope I still like them in November/December of this year!
