I must confess, I am a scrapbooker first and a card maker second. However being a scrapbooker I have found that I end up with many scraps of cardstock and scrapbook paper that I just can't bring myself to toss out, so out came my inner card maker to use up these scraps. I have been a Perfect Layers user since 2008 and I have been hooked since then as this affordable tool lets the inner anal scrapbooker in me shine! I started out matting the old fashioned way and found myself constantly shaving and cropping to get that perfect mat, to no avail. Apparently I could not cut a straight line to save my soul and I could always spot things a bit off and crooked. The beauty of Perfect Layers is if even your image is off just a tad, your layers are always.................well..................PERFECT! When I got my hot little hands on this newest version of Perfect Layers at first I admit, why have these because I own the original longer version? This question was answered very quickly for me, as I found that the smaller rulers give me less room for error making cards that my larger rulers did not. And if you make cards only, this tool is so perfect!
I decided to make a sympathy card with my new Perfect Layers Mini. I think for all card makers, this is the hardest card to make, especially if you are in the position of being pressed to do so. I pre make mine so that when I need one, all I need to do is look in my stash. My card is below:
I used cardstock from my stash to cut and layer everything and then found some matching embellishments to tie everything together in the same color families. I like my sympathy cards to be more uplifting to celebrate the life of the intended person so I love to use mid range colors so my cards are not too bright or too dark. In sadness my intent is to bring some life back into the receiver's hands and to remember that although we are sad, we have a lot of lovely memories to share.
I hope you enjoyed my project! Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think or ask me questions you may have regarding these new products!
Have a PERFECT Day!
