What do you do when..........................

your child gets married and keeps it a secret? Apparently my son got married June 25, 2008 before he went to Iraq. He just told me tonight. This is so bitter sweet for me as I adore my son, his new wife Carrie, and now I am a Grandma to Georgia (Carrie's daughter). Never in my wildest dreams did I think that any of my children would keep a secret this big. They say they will have a "big wedding" when he returns, however I feel like I have already missed the wedding. Do I love all them??? Oh yeah, with all my heart!!!!!!!!!! Am I hurt??????????? Yes.............I am. My son means the world to me and he chose a wonderful young woman. I wish I could have been there for them and wish them nothing but the best. It is a sad and wonderful day for me. I have a daughter in law!!!! I have a grand daughter!!! And I am blessed!!!

As a mother, I feel for you.
But it must have been something
they felt they had to do before
he left. A new daughter-in-law and a beautiful new grand-daughter!
What a blessing!

Wow!~ You sure have been blessed! I can imagine how bitter sweet this is for you. I think it would just about break my heart if my son "informed" me well after the fact that he was married. However, being in their shoes, I'm fairly certain, they needed to do this for their own peace of mind. God love them for choosing well and wisely. God love you for being accepting of them and their new family!

Congratulations Mom and Grandmom!!

Hugs and Merry Christmas!

All of your feelings are more than understandable. A secret kept from you that is that big is hard, yet the results are so wonderful. Know that it is OK to feel hurt while you are rejoicing. And also know I think you are a terrific lady.
